BridgeWood Alternatives held our second LP only networking event as part of our peer-to- peer initiative on March 21st at Club Lusitano in Hong Kong. The evening featured a fireside chat with Roger Bacon, Head of Investments (Asia) for Citi Private Bank.
It was a great evening with allocators from different backgrounds and investor types making new connections, catching up with friends, and reconnecting with former colleagues in a relaxed environment devoid of any sales pitches.
We make it a point at our fireside chats not only to invite industry leaders, but to ask thought provoking and sometimes difficult questions that are not usually covered in most conferences and seminars to illicit spirited debate and valuable insights. This fireside chat didn’t disappoint. Roger shared his non-consensus views on China, the role and drawbacks of structured products, challenges he and the bank face regarding fund selection from a size, fees, and product campaign perspective, navigating the fine line between fund value proposition and marketability, and other valuable insights.
